While I was reading earlier this week, I came across this quote from Rainbow Rowell‘s book, “Eleanor & Park,” in which the character Park is thinking about his parents’ relationship.
What are the chances you’d ever meet someone like that? he wondered. Someone you could love forever, someone who would forever love you back? And what did you do when that person was born half a world away? The math seemed impossible. How did his parents get so lucky?
One year ago today, I married my most favorite person in the entire world. We grew up on different continents and speaking different languages, but somehow made our way to each other. M. is the man who makes me laugh on the regular, who amazes me every day when he thinks and says the same things at the same time I do, who is patient and understanding when I am difficult and cranky, who is loving and supportive and respectful constantly. Every day I have to ask myself those same questions. “What are the chances? How did I get so lucky?”
