Warsaw: Neon Muzeum

warsaw

On our first afternoon in Warsaw, we decided to head to Praga, the “edgy” part of town, known for its run-down buildings and artistic inhabitants (at least in reputation). Our destination: the Neon Muzeum. Founded in 2005, the museum houses a collection of old neon signs from all over Poland. Some signs have little-to-no history explained, while others have deeper, more fascinating stories of their origins. It’s also not the easiest building to find, so we had to wander through the surrounding SoHo Factory a bit until we found it. But once we did, it was very cool to walk through the displays and soak up the feeling of Poland during the Cold War, as well as learn more about the aesthetics of neon signs and why they were so embraced by the country.
