Late last month I met up with Chris and Florian at a Neukölln coffeeshop for the first time in far too long. The last time we were all together was before Swift Talk launched, which means it had been nearly three years. Wie schnell die Zeit fliegt, as those in the German-speaking world would say.
But… I have to admit it’s a good thing. Since the last time the three of us were in the same room, there have been 138 episodes and two books, and objc.io is like a well-oiled machine that just works. All of us have our parts and we do them well and there’s no friction (at least on my end), which is pretty awesome. I will always remain super grateful to them (and Daniel) for taking a chance on me as a copy editor who knew very little about the world of developers. I in no way want to discredit my own role in becoming a better editor and carving out a niche for myself in the dev world, but I also wouldn’t be where I am today without them reaching out to me, and encouraging me, and recommending me, and pushing me to advocate for myself.
After a nice round of catchup and coffee, they headed out to a lunch meeting and I took a quick minute to soak up the rare Berlin winter sunshine before returning home to continue working.
