Last Thursday, I made my way to Friedrichshain to meet up with a couple friends. First I had a coffee/tea date with V. before she moved back to Finland. Then I walked over to visit K. and catch up.
Along the way, I walked along Pettenkoferstraße, a street that has massive construction going on. Apparently, lots of now-empty lots are going to be converted into luxury housing, which seems to be going on in more Friedrichshain spots than just this one.
What caught my attention was the drawings that elementary school children had made, asking that trees not be torn down for new apartment buildings. I love the sentiment, but unfortunately, it seems as though politicians in the area just don’t care.
