Although there are plenty of vegetarian brunch options in Berlin, eating vegan brunches and breakfasts is a lot more of a limited thing. There is the weekend brunch at Cafe Morgenrot, but that’s all the way across town. Veganz is similar. Ohlàlà is all sweet things (or so I have heard, although I still plan to check it out eventually), and that leaves little else.
Luckily, there is an option close to us: Vux. I have been to Vux in the past at its old location, which was not far from my first flat in Berlin. In the past year, the restaurant has relocated to a bigger place not too far from the original spot, and offers an entirely vegan brunch on Sundays. For whatever reason, I have never been before today.
This morning, M. and I rode our bikes there under the amazingly warm autumn sun, and met up with his brother and brother’s girlfriend (aka T&T). We arrived just as the place opened and ended up snagging one of the last tables available, which was lucky. But I had heard the place seems to always be busy, so we made a point of being on time. We then spent the next three hours catching up with one another while indulging in a delicious meal of all kinds of tasty foods.
I doubt we will make it a regular place, as we enjoy breakfasting at home, but I absolutely want to go back again.
