Tag: US Embassy

Morning in the (Zehlen)dorf.

Yesterday morning, I had an appointment at the US Embassy, so I made the trek out to Steglitz-Zehlendorf, riding on the U3 line for the first time ever. Luckily, my appointment took less than a half hour, but that meant I had time to kill before meeting up to drop-off the iPhone I borrowed while in the states.

It was raining on and off, but I set out exploring anyway, and while there were a few things of interest, I discovered that most of the area where I was (Dahlem) is outright boring. At least in the area I was in, there was Freie Universität, a cemetery (more on that another time), and actual houses as opposed to flats (although there were definitely apartment buildings too).

Also, apparently, rich people live in this area, and I can understand why. It’s removed from the tourist-y areas, and there is tons of nature, as it borders Grunewald. You could hear birds chirping while waiting for the U3!

In spite of the drizzle, I still covered some ground, walking into the woods and down Clayallee, and eating a completely mediocre lunch at Cafe LebensArt.
