Nashville: The Wild Cow

nashville, tennessee

While visiting my parents in Tennessee over Thanksgiving, we took a handful of day trips, one of which was to Nashville, and as the resident vegan, I was given free reign in picking the places we’d eat. The Wild Cow had a lot of positive reviews online, so it was there that we headed for lunch.

Upon arriving, we were seated quickly and from then on out given top service by a very friendly and helpful server. I can’t stand when I go someplace and the employees have no opinion on the food or drinks, so it was refreshing to deal with someone who not only knew the menu well, but also could recommend items to us.

We started off with the spinach and artichoke dip, which was probably the only letdown of our experience, as it was just kind of bland. But the entrees were amazing. In our group of five we ordered the buffalo beans and greens, the buffalo grinder, the California-style veggie burger, the prince fielder, and the daily special (which was an elaborate-looking garden burger). All of us were ultra impressed with our food, with the veggie burger being the only item that wasn’t particularly special but still fine.

Though we were all full after our meals, we still found the room for shared dessert, ordering a piece of some kind of chocolate ganache cake and a peanut butter cheesecake. Both were amazing, and so worth it.

Other noteworthy things about this place: there are posters and magazines and fliers everywhere encouraging animal adoption. Very cool. Also, everything is vegan by default unless you request it as vegetarian. Oh, and did I mention how nice everyone is?

There are plenty of other veg spots in Nashville, but if I go back, I’m almost certain it will be to The Wild Cow. It’s only been a couple weeks and I am still dreaming about their buffalo sauce.
