Berlin: Chaostheorie

chaostheorie When I found myself in Prenzlauer Berg the other day, hungry and not quite ready to head home, I did a quick search of vegan spots in the vicinity and came across Chaostheorie. This cute little cafe is right off Danziger Straße, which means it’s super easy to get to. The inside is two small rooms with tables and bar seats, along with outside spots, and an overall pink-inspired decor.

I should note that while there are increasingly plenty of spots in town with vegan options, I do love encountering places that are entirely vegan, because then I get my pick of the entire menu. It’s good in this instance, as the Chaostheorie menu is not super extensive to begin with.

I decided to get the Chaos croissant, which (to be honest) was somewhat disappointing, as I expected it to be more like a croissant, particularly considering that it cost more than the non-croissant version of the meal. It tasted fine, though. Afterward, I checked out the desserts and got a brownie with ice cream on top, which was tasty, and gluten-free. There were some other baked goods that caught my eye as well, and there are shakes and ice cream desserts also available. I think these are the more interesting parts of the menu (but I also have a massive sweet tooth).

Apparently the cocktails are one of the major selling points as well, but I had a simple beer with my meal instead. When I’m back in the area though, I’d certainly like to try a drink. Overall, I can’t say that I would go here regularly, considering all the vegan options on my side of town, but if you’re in the area and don’t want to eat straight-up fast food (like Vego’s down the street), consider checking it out—if not for the vegan food than for the cocktails, the laid-back environment, and the eclectic music.
