Downtown Knoxville.

Since our journey from Berlin to Knoxville was exhausting, Sunday morning was declared a day for sleeping in and then leisurely exploring the downtown part of Knoxville. Of course, even that involved a lot.

In the morning, we woke up around 9 and had waffles for breakfast, then sat around and chilled before eventually getting ready and heading downtown. Our first stop was lunch at Tomato Head, where I had the vegan sandwich and was overall quite impressed. Everyone else got burgers or sandwiches and also enjoyed them. We also enjoyed the awesome weather, and if it weren’t already so crowded, I would have loved to have eaten on the front patio.

After lunch, we began our exploring, which took us along Wall Street, down Gay Street into the Old City, and even to the Sunsphere.

Fitbit’s data is skewed a bit because of the time zones, but I think we climbed about 14 flights and definitely walked well over 10,000 steps. Busy day. We also ate some gelato on Gay Street. Here are some of the photos from our wanderings.

In the evening, we went back to the house for black bean soup, and spent the evening taking it easy. This was particularly nice, because I still hadn’t kicked my cold, but it was at least finally on the outs.
