Hidden away in Kreuzberg SW 61, between Mehringdamm and Viktoriapark, is the quiet street of Methfesselstraße. Back in the 1870s, this area was the site of planned development of villas called Wilhelmshöhe. Of the 40 planned villas, 20 were built, and only 3 remain today – one of which is the Lindenberg house. We visited it on our walking tour of the area, and I couldn’t help but be in awe of the building. Even though it’s definitely in need of some restoration, even the deteriorating facade is quite beautiful.
