Better late than never, right?! I have just been so exhausted in the past couple weeks, which I am going to blame on this creature taking up space in my uterus. “They” aren’t lying when they say that the second trimester is the best one… and then the third hits, and you can’t ever get comfortable, and the stretch marks come, and you can’t sleep properly, and you get heartburn, and your balance is all off, and and and… Yet in spite of my constant tiredness, I’ve still been able to accomplish a fair amount, such as the three appointments last week (hospital registration, paperwork appointment with the midwife, 31 week checkup), and all the other miscellaneous work things.
Another thing we did was our taxes! The deadline is May 31, but the sooner the better, as they will otherwise delay the payout of our Elterngeld. So this weekend we printed and signed all the necessary forms and yesterday I delivered them in person to the local tax office (above).
As for the rest of our weekend, well, I made a pie on Friday night… strawberry rhubarb to be exact. What an amazing flavor combination. And the crust turned out perfect. I really am quite pleased with myself.
Saturday we slept in extremely late, but then tried to make up for lost time by spending as much time outside as possible… which wasn’t difficult given the awesome weather. After breaking our bread knife while trying to crack open a coconut, we went out to get a new one, which also resulted in our getting a new ceramic knife, which then led to us stopping off for pizza and ice cream… it was nice to have a loose agenda but just feel free to do whatever we wanted.
The next day we woke up earlier on purpose, because we both had work to do. So while I spent the late morning and early afternoon working, M. lounged on the couch with the cats and read and napped. Lucky. But then he got to work shortly after, and I got some reading done. We ended the evening with eggplant kibbeh and watched “The Little Mermaid,” which I hadn’t seen in some 15+ years, and which he had never seen. This next weekend will be spent doing a two-day birthing course, so we’ll see how exciting that report is…
