Since we were married the day before our reception, the whole idea of the “first look” wasn’t super necessary. Still, we found ourselves doing it. I think, more than anything, for us it was important to have some time to ourselves before the festivities began. Think of it as the calm before the storm.
And so while I was finishing getting ready at home, M. walked with Andreas (the husband and assistant of our photographer Ashley) to nearby Görlitzer Park. Now, Görli isn’t the loveliest of spots, and it’s mostly overrun with drug dealers and barbecuing groups, but the back corner of it has a little pond and lots and lots of greenery, as well as not so many people–perfect for our secluded first look.
To be honest, I felt a bit silly with the whole build-up element of it, but once we saw one another, we could compare notes about our mornings and not feel rushed for a good 10 minutes. Then it was off to our reception!
