Berlin: Holy Shit Shopping

holy shit shopping

Every year in December, since 2004, a little something called Holy Shit Shopping comes to Berlin (some people may have heard of it, or its counterpart for the warmer months, Summer Pop Shopping). What these two things are, basically, are traveling shopping opportunities, with Hamburg, Köln, and Stuttgart also participating as stops on the map. Local and some not-so-local designers and artists and creators of various goods gather under one roof and sell their jewelry, art prints, clothing, and other crafty creations.

This past year, M. and I went, since it is a bit of tradition of his. I didn’t buy anything, but I did enjoy browsing the stalls and seeing everything that was available. The booths reminded me a lot of the nicer and more eclectic/vintage Flohmarkts here in town, as opposed to just anyone selling old junk or not-cared-for secondhand items. In fact, many of the faces or items were familiar to me, but the nice thing is that this brings in vendors from elsewhere in Germany as well.

We spent a couple of hours wandering through Postbahnhof and it was nice to spend that time browsing around. It’s definitely a good place to get some gift ideas.
