Two Weeks.

September is here, which means that I am back to a relatively full work load as of two weeks ago. Granted, I only work 18 hours a week as a tutor, but I also am busy interviewing bands and doing freelance work on the side, which takes up a lot of time. Add in my hobbies on the side, like trying out new recipes, along with general housewife-type responsibilities, and I feel like I have no time left to do anything else.

However, in the midst of all this not-enough-hours-in-the-day busyness, I have had time to pursue some interests and have some fun.

For example, I finally got a library card. The €10/year price put me off a bit, not because it’s a lot, but rather because I am used to never paying for access to the library, so having to just went against my nature. Either way, I am now a member (thanks to a friend who is an employee and hooked me up with a free card=. So of course I have checked out way too many children’s books in German in order to practice and bulk up my vocabulary. It’s also been fun to not only see classic books from my childhood in German, but also discover books from German authors.

A couple weeks ago I met up with a fellow Californian for coffee on the balcony of her new flat. She lives a couple blocks away from the RAW complex, and on that particular weekend, there was a brewfest, so naturally we went. Apparently, microbrews are on the up and up here in Berlin, and while I love myself a good Pilsner, I can’t complain about craft brews.

In other news, my new passport came in the mail. The other was 8 years old, and although I had time left on it, the change of last name required documents to match:

Meanwhile, Germany had another election, and I went with M. to vote:

And yesterday we went to a vegan Fika, which is like the German Kaffee und Kuchen, only Swedish:

All in all, life is good.
