Earlier this month, I finally ended up getting coffee at Passenger Espresso. In spite of all the hype I have heard, and even considering it’s in my Kiez, it has taken me quite awhile to make my way there. This is namely because I love coffee, but 98% of the time I drink it black, so going out of my way to specifically visit a coffee shop is kind of silly, particularly when it’s a lot cheaper to drink filter coffee at home.
However, a Finnish friend of mine was in town for a short visit and we decided to meet up on the day before she flew back home. Since she has recently started drinking coffee, I suggested we try this place out. Of course, I knew I had to try an espresso-based drink, so I opted for a flat white with soy milk. It was pretty good, although nothing to write home about. I think it might have been better with some vegan banana bread, but unfortunately, they were all out that day.
There were also some animals who kept us company, including a little bird and a dog waiting for its owner to order coffee inside.
In other news, I will be visiting this same friend in Helsinki at the end of June. It will be my first trip to Finland, and also includes a 9-hour stopover in Riga, so I will have time to explore Latvia as well. I am pretty excited to get to know Helsinki, and with a native no less.
