For the month of August, we had some super awesome visitors staying with us: the A’s. These two individuals are Avi and Amy, who flew out from San Francisco for an extended European visit. As I type this, they are on a plane back to the states, after spending almost four weeks in Berlin (along with side trips to Prague and Rome) hanging out and exploring and having lots of adventures.
I first met Avi in January 2006 in a journalism course at university. He ran Springman Records at the time, (although he since has been operating Silver Sprocket) and we became fast friends. Amy is his roommate of many years, and she and I have hung out at a handful of parties or casual nights in at the house they live in, The Future.
For the first week of their trip, they stayed at our place in Kreuzberg. After that, they transferred to a mutual friends’ flat in Nord-Neukölln, but we still got to see one another quite a bit, which is surprising, considering how busy M. and I have been all month.
In many ways, this visit was perfect, because we had so much time to hang out. I’ve had many friends visit and stay for a week at most, but usually just a few days, so when I get pals from back home to hang out with sporadically for the better part of a month, it makes my homesickness nearly non-existant. I’m sure M. got sick of our USA jokes and talking about people he doesn’t know, but having a small piece of California here was fantastic.
During their time here, here are some (but certainly not all) of the things we did with A&A…
Not pictured: seeing Star Fucking Hipsters, USA/Taco Bell/One More Song chants, going to the Reichstag, eating tons more vegan food, bike rides, walking around and exploring, and many, many more things.
