One of the places worth seeing in Gera is the Orangerie, a building in the Baroque style in the Untermhaus district. It was built in the early 1700s and was originally used as a greenhouse and to protect orange/citrus trees, hence the name. In the time since, it has undergone a few changes, but since 1972 has been home to Gera’s art collection. It also has beautifully manicured lawns and flowers all around, making it a wonderful place to take a walk.
