A couple weeks ago was one of my first “free” days in some time, and in the afternoon, I met with some clients in Graefekiez. After a leisurely lunch at Schillerburger and coffee at nearby Kaffeebar Jenseits des Kanals, they headed back to their offices and I went on a walk of the neighborhood. In contrast to the colder, gloomy weather that characterized most of January, it was warm enough that I was only wearing a light jacket. This was the first day that really made me feel hopeful about spring, as people were sitting outside cafes in the sunshine and strolling through the park. When Berliners start to congregate outdoors, you know it’s not long before summer is almost here.
