The days are passing by in a bit of a blur, as they tend to do with babies, or so I’ve heard. As such, it’s difficult for me to even think what day it is. Instead, M. and I are totally consumed our gorgeous little boy. He’s a relaxed baby, and when he cries it’s pretty much always for something that can be remedied fairly easily (diaper change, feeding, etc.). And once he gets what he wants, he is calm as can be.
We took it easy this weekend, with M. doing the shopping for me. Overall, he’s taken on the main share of housework, which I appreciate, as I’m spending a lot of time on the couch unable to move because the baby is eating or sleeping. We’ve also had a few visitors; M.’s mother and her husband came by on Sunday, as did Nicole, who made me vegan lactation cookies. Nicole also encouraged me to get out and about, so the five of us (me, M., baby, Nicole, and her daughter Ari) walked down to get ice cream. It felt really good to be outside, which was basically the first time since the birth. Some neighbors also stopped by briefly to bring flowers, and of course our midwife is visiting most every day. Slowly but surely I am recovering, and we are also starting to get the hang of this parenting thing. I can’t wait to share more about the birth story in the coming days/weeks.
