Another weekend gone by, though it was relatively gray and cold, so we didn’t venture out too much… and that was just fine by me. M. was out with colleagues on Friday night, and though I originally planned to stop by a startup meetup, I was met with exhaustion around 7pm, so I got in pajamas and curled up with my book “The Girl on the Train,” which I ended up finishing that evening.
Saturday morning I unintentionally woke up minutes before 9:26 (which was the most important time of Pi Day), and we realized we didn’t have rolls for breakfast, which meant eating on the go. We got a couple of baked goods at Beumer & Lutum, then set about picking up some groceries and visiting the nearby flower shop to get a custom bouquet for my mother-in-law. Then we headed out to do our bulk shopping and stock up on cat food and cat litter for the next couple months.
Back at home, we put groceries away and relaxed until the afternoon, when it was time to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday with Kaffee und Kuchen. There were some other family members there, so we all sat around and enjoyed eating and drinking and talking for a few hours. All the cake definitely ruined our appetites, which means we didn’t have dinner until almost 11pm. But I spent most of the evening reading “Sharp Objects,” which I had started the evening before. And we also got some more insurance paperwork stuff done, in preparation for the baby.
Sunday morning we both slept until almost noon, which is kind of incredible, as I didn’t realize either of us were that tired. And then we had another lazy day, with more reading (I finished my book and started Flynn’s “Dark Places”), household chores, skyping with my parents, and soup for dinner.
