Another weekend come and gone, and I hardly even got to experience it. Why? Because I was working all weekend. That’s the life of a freelancer though. I’m currently in the middle of a two-week stretch of working every day, and you had better believe that I cannot wait until this coming Friday night, when I will actually have a break.
Of course, it is important to give yourself a bit of free time where you can afford it, which is what I made sure to do every day. On Friday, I made a point of not staying late at a client’s office and instead met up with M. and our friend T. for dinner. We had Vietnamese, and ended up hanging out and talking at our table for three hours…
Once we got home, I did some work on an app I’ve been copywriting/editing, and then it was bedtime (and I needed little help falling asleep). Saturday morning we slept in, and after breakfast, it was back to work. All afternoon and evening, I worked on the aforementioned app, some other client stuff, and the upcoming issue of objc.io, only taking a break to give M. shopping list instructions and to eat. However, I promised to stop working at 9pm, and then we watched “Birdman” together, which was a bizarre but enjoyable movie, particularly due to the awesome camera work.
Sunday was similar to Saturday, with lots of work, though this time I took small breaks throughout the day to do some baking. More specifically, I made three kinds of vegan cupcakes: chai latte, gingerbread, and carrot cake. Yum! I ended the weekend by reading more in “Thirty Girls,” a book that I am torn about. Beautiful writing but one of the main characters is just not that interesting… but I’m about halfway through so we’ll see how it goes. What are you reading?
