Warsaw: Łazienki Park

warsaw

After our morning coffee at Relaks, we had about 90 minutes of free time before we had to be in the Old Town for our walking tour of the former ghetto. So I looked on a map and discovered that Łazienki Park was about 10-15 minutes away on foot, and off we went.

The park, which is the largest in the city at 188 acres, was designed in the 17th century and was home to gardens, baths, a palace, and plenty of green space.  From our brief overview, it reminded me a lot of Sanssouci Park in Potsdam.

While we didn’t have enough time to see everything, we did admire the Palace on the Water (Pałac na Wodzie), the Roman Theater, and the New Orangery, as well as some other structures from afar. We also saw a fancy peacock, in addition to plenty of people out with their families and friends. I can only imagine how busy it must be in the warmer months.
