Ask anyone who has been in Berlin for a few years, and all will agree that this past winter was not a particularly bad one. However, it has been kind of on the long end of things, with little glimpses of warmer days here and there, which all then revert back to colder weather. It’s May now, which means it’ll finally be warm before we know it, which means 3-5 months of awesome weather before it starts to get cold again. This afternoon, for example, was a perfect day for sitting outside in the sun while eating our lunch (though we were wearing layers). And even back in February we had a handful of those days as well, like the day when a friend and I hung out at the restaurant in Görlitzer Park, then walked down to Hermannplatz, enjoying the sunshine, the people outside, and the cookies from Katie’s Blue Cat. Of course I will probably be lamenting the heat in a month or two, but I do love how Berlin seems to slowly shake off its sleepiness and turn into an active and vibrant city on days when the sun is out.
