It is the hollow month of March now sweeping in

So the first quarter of 2021 is already over and I kind of can’t believe it. We all had our first “lockdown anniversaries,” and for some people, things are looking like they’re semi-normal again, but for us in Germany we’re six months into a completely ineffective lockdown and a third wave so everything feels a bit like Groundhog’s Day lately. And while I know there were some great moments in March, looking back, a lot of it feels like a blur of sleep, ride, eat, work, parent, rinse, repeat. I’m so worn out and tired but I just keep going because what other choice do I have?

There were some highlights though:

I read six books (my favorites were “Real Life” and “A Long Petal of the Sea”).

I rode 443 kilometers (and hit my quarterly goal of 1250km).

I went on my first ride of the year on the road bike (I’ve been using the gravel bike through the winter) and it was everything I wanted and more.

I got an invite to get vaccinated!!

I planted flowers, radishes, kohlrabi, onions, potatoes, salad, and herbs.

I worked a lot.

I started learning a new song on the ukulele.

I wish I had more to say but it’s just hard right now. I’m dealing with a lot of emotions and I want to write about them but even that is something I struggle with. Instead, you should listen to this album, which I’ve had on repeat the past six weeks, and which will surely be in my top 10 of the year.
