On Thursday evening, after a particularly taxing day of submitting my final Ph.D. application and attending German class, I announced that Friday would be a day devoted to doing a whole lot of nothing. That meant I would not work, but instead do whatever I felt like. So I did exactly that.
I slept in until 11:30, and after that, enjoyed my morning coffee and lazed around, catching up on television shows. After spending enough time trying to guess whether it would rain or not, I decided to chance it and head out. My walk took me to Speilplatz Weichselplatz, where the (future) sister-in-law (T.) and nephew (N.) were, along with my fiancé’s brother’s ex-wife’s sister’s son (M.). Confusing enough?
The two boys played while T. and I caught up, and then we made a short stop for snacks at a cute little cafe across the way, rudimarie. I enjoyed a soy hot chocolate as we head to drop M. off with his mom, eventually ending up at the flat of T&T.
There, we drank tea and midori sours and did some knitting. I am a beginner, so this was only my third time working on it, but I am FINALLY getting the hang of it. I am still knitting terribly tight and can’t yet pick up dropped stitches, but I am getting better. I can’t wait until I actually finish something; that will be encouraging.
As the evening drew in, I headed out, stopping for some groceries and then making my way home on foot. I got some summer rolls for dinner with M. (who was en route home after post-work band practice), and then the two of us made our way to the grand re-opening party of Privatclub. The new place is quite chic looking, and, admittedly, I might have enjoyed the super cheap, super strong drinks a bit too much. Oh well. I am still looking forward to checking out some shows here in the coming months.
Meanwhile, for all this walking, my new Fitbit One told me I took 15,161 steps, or walked 6.33 miles.
