Kitchen Remodel: Phase II

After everything was cleared out of the way, the painting began. Yesterday morning we started with taping off the walls and the objects in the way (pipes, tiling) and then jumped right in. We were lucky enough to have T. to help us out, as she recently painted her own flat and is sort of an expert in the field. Together, the three of us were able to paint the kitchen in its entirety in a couple hours. We also started on our open area between the hall and the bathroom (future garderobe section) but that’s another entry for another time.

All in all, I am pleased with how the colour turned out. I was afraid it would be too light, but it’s a deep mint, which I love. M. still thinks it is a bit too dark, but hopefully the flooring will lighten it up. Plus, since the sun comes in through the window, I hope that it will make the room warm and cool at the same time. And since it’s only one wall, it will serve as a nice accent, as opposed to “closing off” the room.

We had some issues with uneven paint strokes (lap marks) today, but luckily most of that area is going to be where we paint an additional coat of clear “washable” paint so that any splatter from cooking or food prep can be easily wiped off. So we repainted that section and it looks good; hopefully it will dry nicely. Now, onto flooring!
